Portugal. The Man – In The Mountain In The Cloud

    Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

It’s been a while since we posted here, but Erik and I have been crazy busy with our day jobs.  We weren’t sure where For Musickind would go when we first started it as a music marketing company a few years back, but it’s turned into a very fun side project that let’s us work with bands that we really like. I’m currently in the middle of a whole bunch of projects for Comic-Con at my work, Machine Shop Marketing, and we’ve also finished a couple of FMK projects that I’ll write about soon.

Anyway, Portugal. The Man released In The Mountain In The Cloud today and I am super stoked. I learned about them when they were touring with RX Bandits and this album has totally won me over as a fan. The album has a range of musical textures that range from classic rock to deep bass-beats that make your head nod.

Stream the entire album below and support the band by purchasing their album. Enjoy.

Prince, the Internet is NOT Over

Prince, The Internet Is NOT Over

I’ll be damned if all the work that we’ve been doing is leading to a dead end. Better yet, all the work we’ve been doing is leading artists to a dead end.

I was talking with by buddy Keith Gretlein last week about how there are some superstar artists that can get away with anything, including murder, and one of those people is Prince. Making false claims for publicity is another story. It was about midnight when I noticed a tweet from Mashable stating: “Prince: The Internet is Over”.

That’s not true of course, so I’ve simply taken quotes/statements from the Mirror UK story, and stated my opinion and advice on what was said. As a 25 year old who has been using computers since the age of 6, I remind you, new artists, that Prince is not an artist of the Internet generation. (more…)

    Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

After a long absence and hard work, Dios has returned with their third full-length album “We Are Dios” available today via Buddyhead Records. This band has become one of my personal favorite’s because of how much they remind me of Pink Floyd.

For Musickind worked with Buddyhead and Phillip Farmer (the man behind http://www.joshfreese.com) to manage the deployment of Topspin for some music packages, outlined below, that will surely deliver more than just a digital music experience.

    One Small Step for Music-Kind

    Monday, August 17th, 2009

Welcome to our blog! For Musickind is digital marketing and design company, led by myself:

    • Harold Gutierrez: 25 year old music enthusiast and marketer with a passion for technology and the web. I grew up in San Diego and went to high school with members from the bands The Soft Pack, Say Anything, and Augustana. My life has always been filled music, but I never learned to play a instrument. I stick to skateboarding, beaching-it, vinyl, and going to tons of concerts and shows. My goal is to continue to work with and educate artists to shape the future of digital music marketing.

    and

    • Erik Kerr: 23 year old web design/developer thrown around from the west coast to the midwest and now back to the west coast for good. I grew up with a serious obsession for music and love all things design. I dig the beach and the snow and love and do all activities associated with them. I play guitar and bass, dabble in drums, and am fascinated with the piano (but suck at it!). I founded the St. Louis Ska Music Festival back in ’04 (R.I.P.) and I love and miss my dog back home in St. Louis. O.K….back to Harold now…Go!
